Last weekend, our school had the honour of participating in the 80th Bishop's Shield Competition—a prestigious event that celebrates the talents of our young people in speech, drama, and public speaking. While our team did not place as highly as we had hoped, coming in last overall, I want to highlight the tremendous character, resilience, and spirit displayed by our students.
Each of our participants approached the competition with enthusiasm, dedication, and a genuine desire to represent our school with pride. They embraced the challenges, supported one another, and grew in confidence with each round. These experiences, though they may not have resulted in a trophy, have left a lasting impact on their personal growth and development. The true victory lies in the lessons learned, the friendships forged, and the memories created.
I am very proud of our students for their courage to stand up and speak, to perform under pressure, and to represent our school with such grace and dignity. They embody the values we hold dear—perseverance, teamwork, and a commitment to excellence.
Yesterday, we came together with our Catholic contributing school, St. Mary’s, to celebrate the Feast of the Assumption with a beautiful Mass. The service was a wonderful reminder of the importance of faith in our lives, and it was heartwarming to see our students actively participating in the liturgy. The Feast of the Assumption calls us to reflect on Mary’s journey to heaven, reminding us of the hope and promise that our faith offers.
As we continue through this term, let us carry forward the spirit of perseverance shown by our Bishop's Shield participants and the deep faith reflected in our Assumption Day Mass. Together, as a school community, we will continue to grow in faith, character, and learning.
