Last week we held the annual SPC speech competition here at school. Mr Terry and myself had a very tough job of judging eight well delivered and entertaining speeches, looking for the top three students who would go on to represent St Peter's College at the Eastern Cluster competition.
The top three students to go through were, Lily Wiegersma - 'The importance of reading books,' Jemima Moody - 'Rural life is better than city life,' and Lily Gemmill - 'Courage.'
On Tuesday all three young ladies attended the Eastern Cluster competition at Māruawai Junior Campus. The Year 7 & 8 competition was extremely strong with three representatives from Blue Mountain College, Māruawai College and St Peter's College. There were a range of original and entertaining speeches delivered and our students did a fantastic job.
Lily Gemmill was announced as the overall Year 7 & 8 winner and will now go on to represent Eastern and SPC at the Central and Eastern Area competition on Monday 2nd of August at Winton.
