Kia ora e te whānau

November holds a special place in the Catholic calendar, starting with two meaningful feast days: All Saints Day on November 1st and All Souls Day on November 2nd. It is a time to reflect, give thanks, and honour both the saints who have led lives of holiness and those we have lost.

On All Saints Day, we celebrate all saints, both known and unknown, whose lives of faith continue to inspire us. All Souls Day follows, a day devoted to praying for the faithful departed, that they may “Rest in Peace.” This time offers us the chance to remember loved ones who have passed away, to pray for their eternal rest, and to cherish their memories in our hearts.

Within our St Peter’s College community, we hold close in prayer all those who have shaped our lives, past and present. Today, we especially remember the Dinan family, mourning the passing of Doug, beloved father of Jorja and Bree. We ask everyone to join us in holding the Dinan family, and all in our community who have recently lost loved ones, in our thoughts and prayers.

Let us come together this month to reflect, remember, and honour all those who have gone before us. May this time deepen our faith and strengthen our bonds as a community united in love and prayer. Let us not pick apart people with hardened hearts but raise each other up as Christ wanted.
