A Reflection
As we approach the Easter Break, it is timely to reflect on the central message of Easter. It is one of hope as manifest in the Resurrection tradition. This hope is something that we believe underpins what we are about as a school. As the Presiding Member of the School Board I am delighted be able to share the following with you as examples of this journey.
The Board met on Tuesday, 19 March, 2024, and it was great to have a member of the public present.
Confirmed Minutes of Board meetings can be found on the School website and requested from the School Office.
Special Character
A review of the Special Character has been carried out and the final report will be shared with the hapori/school community once it has been received. The Board acknowledges the excellent and ongoing contributions of all staff which ensure that the Special Character shines through in all aspects of the school.
Te Tiriti o Waitangi
We are embarking on an exciting journey with the Hokonui Runaka to explore the adoption of a Te Reo Maori school name that can sit alongside the English name. This will be a journey that everyone will be invited to be part of.
Joseph Driessen Talk
Joseph Driessen’s presentation to parents on 18 March, 2024, was well received. Nurturing, supporting and encouraging our ākonga are the key to ensuring they experience their own version of achievement and are well prepared for their future after school.
A Development Group
The Board is considering carefully the concept of a Development Group that would include a representation of stakeholders of the College to help drive a clear view of what we want the future to be like for our students and school. Please consider the concept and we look forward to engaging with you on this concept in the next few months.
Next Meeting
The next Board meeting will be held in the School Library on Wednesday, 20 May 2024, at 6.00pm.
Meetings are open to the public and anyone is welcome to come along. If you would like to speak at a Board meeting, please contact the Presiding Member - John Hogue – johnhogue@stpetersgore.school.nz so that we can provide for this on the Agenda.
