Kia ora e te whānau

As we head into the Easter holidays, I want to take this opportunity to again thank all you parents who have chosen St Peter’s College for your son or daughter. May the break away from school be a time for all our students to rest and refocus for the term ahead.

Term One has certainly been a busy and productive term around the College. I wish to thank all those who helped to make the College Ball the success that it was. The student leaders did an amazing job organising this and making sure it was an enjoyable night. A special thanks to the PTFA who helped with the night and continue to support the College in so many ways to ensure that students have access to a wider range of opportunities. They are also looking for new members, so I would encourage parents to consider giving of your time if you can to this great group of volunteers.

The Quad Tournament this year was hosted by Trinity College in Dunedin. St Peter’s had an enjoyable day at the tournament and came away with second place, which was a good result given that we could not field teams in every event. Well done to the students who participated, giving their best and being great role models of the College. Our students time and again demonstrate that they are the best advertisement for the College and great ambassadors. Thank you also to the parents and staff who assisted with the day.

I am also pleased to announce some staffing appointments that will take effect at the start of Term Two:

HELA Science – Mr Borom Blakie

Year 11 Dean – Mrs Gabrielle Brenssell

Careers Advisor – Mr Brendan Terry

Teacher in Charge of Gateway – Mrs Lou Dickson

Congratulations to these staff. I am sure they will all do a great job.

We are currently in the process of recruiting a second Deputy Principal to replace the vacancy created when Mr Darren Jack resigned at the end of 2024. Our hope is to have this person in place for the start of Term Three and we are looking at seconding a person for Term Two.

I want to wish you all a blessed and holy Easter season. As we are aware, this is the most important of all seasons in Christianity. Easter and the hope of the Resurrection is the core belief that binds all Christians together. Let us pray for those Christians who are being

persecuted or are suffering for their faith this Easter. Let us also keep in the mind those people in our own country and community who are also suffering at this time.
