Biology Trip

Posted Thursday May 16, 2024

The annual Biology trip started with cloudy skies and a chilly trip to the beach. That afternoon, after an exploration, we settled into Kamautaurua - Quarantine Island life. Day Two greeted us with blue skies and glassy waters for our return to the Marine Centre. The group were super organised and completed the work in record time. This allowed for a quick trip to Taiaroa Head where we were privileged to have fly overs by albatross.

Day three saw us pack up and clean our quarters on the island. Yet another "Dunner Stunner!"  We were visited by a seal as we waited for the boat. There were a few tired faces for the final day of crab experimentation, but everyone completed their tasks in record breaking time! A huge thank you to Jo McKenzie, who accompanied the trip and made this memorable learning experience possible. Another thank you to Daragh and Teresa at the Marine Studies Centre as well as the two John's, one on Quarantine Island and one as owner of the boat.
