I had the pleasure of accompanying the Intermediate A Netball team to the Junior South Island Netball Championships in Christchurch during the first week of the holiday.
We got off to a great start winning our first three games against South Otago, Kaikoura and Riccarton High School. We then had a narrow one goal loss to Roncalli, so needed to beat the unbeaten Cromwell College to make it through to the top 8. This was the girls' best game of the season - they came from 7 down to win by 2 but missed going through to the top 4 on goal differential to Cromwell College. But what a game, the girls played amazing; it was by the far their best game of the year. We then had a narrow loss to Catholic Cathedral (unfortunately the girls hadn’t quite recovered from their last game – it was pretty epic), and then had another great win to beat Trinity, to finish the tournament 7th in the South Island!!!! This is an amazing achievement for these girls; they epitomised our values of community, compassion and commitment and I could not be prouder.
Well done girls.
