On Wednesday, 6th June, the Year 11 Commerce class had the absolute privilege to travel to Jimmy's Pies in Roxburgh to meet Dennis Kirkpatrick, co-owner of this iconic Central Otago family business.
Dennis spoke to the students about many things business related, including expansion of the business through the 1980s and 90's, decisions they make about production and supply, and the challenges and successes of navigating through Covid, etc.
Key messages to any budding entrepreneur are the unerring emphasis on making quality products, the importance of relationships, and hard work.
Thanks to our parent help, Kelly-anne Findlay; without the support of our community, events like these couldn't happen.
Oh, and of course, we all enjoyed some delicious, fresh pies and baking before we left town!
