On Tuesday the Cultural, Sports and Service Blues Awards took place, and it was a fantastic assembly where our young people’s successes and achievements in these arenas were recognised and celebrated. A huge thank you to our Sports and Arts Departments and their support crews for the organisation and running of the day. Congratulations to all of our students and a big thank you goes out to all who have participated and contributed to their accomplishments.
Our young people got out on the sports fields, courts, and stages and they have not only enjoyed themselves, but have represented our college with pride. Time and time again I have seen our athletes and performers compete fiercely, but fairly, with courage and determination to succeed, yet with compassion and integrity.
Being active, being committed to your extra curricula activities, either as an individual or in a team, gives our students all so many opportunities to grow and develop as individuals. The skills gained are wide and varied, and include being able to make a commitment, developing positive communication skills, being able to work in a team and make new connections and friendships, learning how to balance their time between school work, training, household chores, part-time jobs, rest and recreation, and through all of this, they develop and grow their ability to be resilient.
To our parents, whanau and supporters – thank you. Many of you have been involved in sport, the Arts and service here at St Peter’s College, from managing or coaching to supporting, transporting, feeding, supplying and washing uniforms and equipment, and much more. Without your support, guidance and involvement, your child’s endeavours and successes that were celebrated on Tuesday would not have been possible.
