Kia ora e te whānau
Ash Wednesday this week marked the beginning of Lent. This year the liturgy was split into a Junior and Senior one, in the games room. Everyone received ashes, with the words ‘Turn away from sin, be faithful to the Gospel.’ The ashes come from the burnt palms given out at Palm Sunday last year. During the Lenten season which runs from now until Easter, we are all called to reflect on our lives and see how we can grow closer to God. It is a great time to get started on community service. Thank you, Fr Sani, for being here to celebrate with us.
It is my pleasure to announce our Year 13 student leadership roles for 2024:
Head Boy- Daniel Kovarski
Head Girl- Eve McKenzie
Compassion Leaders- Casandra Juanitas and Molly Gray
Commitment Leaders- Ella King and Austyn Turnbull

This year we will also have two House Captains per house for 2024:

Rosmini- Neve Borlase and Emma Shanks

We congratulate and pray for these students as they take on their roles to lead the school as servant leaders for 2024.
At St Peter’s College, we aim to foster a culture of commitment, community, and compassion by encouraging our students to take responsibility for their choices, to strive for excellence in all areas of their lives, and to be kind and supportive of others. At this week’s student assemblies, we learnt about how we can seek help in our school when we or a friend is not always feeling their best. Our guidance counsellor, Mrs Catherine Baldock, reintroduced herself to the students, told them where her new office is and what she does and how an appointment can be made with her.
It has been a strong and settled start to the year with many activities and events taking place already. Southern Field Days has seen some of our students come to support our St Peter’s and Rosmini House sites to promote and showcase our school, and we look forward to seeing many of you today. As we continue our journey, let us remember the example set by Jesus Christ and strive to be committed to our values, our goals, and our responsibilities. Together, we can make a positive impact on our school, our community, and the world.
Next week we have our Athletics Sports day on Wednesday,February 21st, and we hope to see all of our students participate and enjoy the day. This is a full school day, and it is expected all students will be onsite cheering on each other in the final relays, right to the end. On Friday, February, 23rd, we have our class photo day, so please remember to be in excellent uniform looking your best.
Charity fulfills the Law.
