A Message from the New School Board Presiding Member

Posted Thursday March 27, 2025

I am honoured to step into the role of Presiding Member for the St Peter’s College School Board. This is a positive and exciting time for us all as we start a new chapter and continue to build on the strong foundation of our school community.

First and foremost, I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to previous Presiding Member John Hogue, and Ruth Mitchell before him, for their exceptional leadership and unwavering dedication to the role. We are deeply grateful to them.

While our school remains under Limited Statutory Review, I am pleased to share that the powers associated with this review have been significantly reduced. Our Limited Statutory Manager (LSM), Nicola Hornsey, continues to lead functions, powers and duties as an employer (whether statutory or otherwise), to establish policies and procedures (whether statutory or otherwise), and in curriculum management including teaching and assessment. Nicola also retains an advisory function for financial operations (whether statutory or otherwise).

This change marks a turning point as we move forward with greater autonomy and focus on the future of our students and wider school whānau. The remaining interventions will support the smooth transition of our new Principal and help ensure that any changes are sustainable and beneficial for our students, staff, and wider whānau.

At the heart of everything we do is a steadfast commitment to the wellbeing and success of our students. They remain our primary focus. I am excited for the opportunities ahead and look forward to working alongside Mr Kieran Udy and the Board to build a brighter future for our school community. Thank you for your continued support as we move forward with passion, dedication, and a shared commitment to excellence.

Ngā mihi nui,
Ceri Macleod
Presiding Member, St Peter’s College School Board
