Kia ora e te whānau
This week, we had our annual Athletics day, and it was great to see our students out there, having a go and supporting each other in all of the events. Our school values were in action with our students helping to run events, as well as our older students out there helping the younger students find their way around each of the events. A huge thank you goes out to our staff, parent volunteers and especially to our amazing sports coordinator, Rebecca Chittock and to the Physical Education team for running the day.
Next Tuesday, we will be gathering as a school community to dedicate our 2023 school year to God at our opening Mass, and celebrate this with our students, staff, Board members and guests, including current and new families to our community. We will also have our external Catholic Character review in the school next week over three days and we welcome Paul Richardson and Paul Olsen from the Dunedin Diocese and Jo Walshe, Principal of St Kevin’s College in Oamaru.
Our school motto, "Charity Fulfils the Law," calls us to follow God’s commandment to love God and love thy neighbour. It encourages each of us to embody the values of community, commitment and compassion. This year, we will be continuing to focus on putting our faith into action through our Servant Leadership Council and community service programmes, whereby students are encouraged to strive to be Rosminian and Mercy people who see the need and respond with compassion. Our first project will be workday on Wednesday the 6th of March, where all money earned will be distributed to worthy charities.
