A group of six Year 11 students set out on Monday morning for a two-night, three-day independent traverse of the Hokonui Hills from the Waimumu Gorge to the Glenure. After a great first day and night, deteriorating weather conditions on Tuesday afternoon meant the party made the decision to end the trip early. A huge thank you to the landowners who made their properties available to our St Peter’s trampers: the Copland, Grant, Evans, Clearwater, Overton, Weller, and Roy families. Thanks also to Frank and Angie Rae for collecting six wet trampers in their 4WD, making the walk out to the road quite a bit shorter for them. Hopefully the traverse can be completed on a second attempt early next year.
