Southland Primary Athletic Championships were held at Surrey Park, Invercargill on Sunday, March 24th. 1100 kids from all over Southland and also a large contingent from South Otago took to the track and field. St Peter’s had a strong team of 20 athletes competing under the Eastern Southland banner on the day. Congratulations to all the athletes who competed. It was great to see you all out there giving it 100%. Thanks also to all the Officials, Helpers and Supporters.
There were many awesome results that were achieved by our St Peter’s athletes but I would like to highlight a couple of outstanding efforts;
Mia Wilkins (11yr Girls) shone in both track and field. 1st in 800m, 2nd in 1500m, 1st in Shot Put and 4th in High Jump.
Kate Hicks (11yr Girls) had a great day in the field with a 1st in Long Jump, 2nd in High Jump and 3rd in Shot Put.
Lily Gemmill (12yr Girls) came 2nd in 800m and 2nd in 1500m.
The Eastern 12yr Boys Relay Team of James Deuchrass, Mason Chittock, Drake Newton and Moss Wilson all from St Peters took 1st place in the 4x4 (100m) Relay.
